I'm also having trouble with SMB; it's not working for me. I can't access anything on the NAS from Windows. When I try to enable SMB in File Services, the apply button doesn't highlight to save the settings. This OS has been nothing but problematic.

Model F4-424-Pro, running TOS v5.1.123, was functioning properly. The issues began to occur after the unit was powered down from the operating system and then restarted.

It appears to be a system anomaly, and it cannot be ruled out that it is caused by storage or hard disk issues.

Same issue here.

SMB service is down and when trying to enable it the Apply button does not show up blue.

Service seems to be running as when accessing through the file explorer it prompts for password but it does not work.

Judging from the model you are using and the version of TOS, you may have encountered a system abnormality or insufficient capacity of the system partition.
If you used to use TOS4, we suggest you reinstall and keep using TOS 5.0.176, or refer to this to reset your storage and reinstall a higher version of TOS5.

Hello. Editing files in a shared SMB folder. I use F4-423 TOS 5.1.145-00320. I configured SMB in a local network with computers on Windows 10. Everything works as it should, users go to the shared folder, can copy there, can delete files, can create directly in the folder, BUT, when opening, for example, a *.doc file directly from the shared folder (without moving it to your own), a copy opens, you can't edit a file opened in the shared folder. You must copy it to your own, edit it, and then upload it back. How can this be solved? So that there is an opportunity to edit a file by opening it from the shared folder, without copying it to the local machine.

This could generally be that another user/device/software is accessing the file causing it to be locked. You can find out which user/device/software is using it.

Further to @TMzethar I was just going to comment that I don't see this issue (Tos5.1.145 or Tos6.0.531 + Windows10 Pro). Maybe it could be something to do with the options enabled/disabled in SMB 'File Service' settings. Opportunistic Locking? Durable Handles? Or, even something in the advanced settings.

(Note: I don't use SMBv1, only SMBv3 - Windows and Nas with SMBv2 Lease enabled on Nas. I have no idea if that makes any difference.)

No, this obvious option is excluded.
