Organizing the NAS

Post by JoeNYJets »

I'm new to NAS systems. I set up a power user and then a regular user that has less privileges. There is by default a folder with the name of the new user account called "TNAS". I copied files under TNAS, but it won't let me map to that drive from my PC. I can map the power user, but not TNAS. It looks like I need to create a new shared folder that goes into the root directory. Should i do it that way? Can someone just give me a recommendation for a basic way to organize the NAS folders? Note - it's just for backing up photos at home, so i need one folder that gets shared on my home network. Thanks.

The folder TNAS is at this point the personal directory of the user TNAS, and the TNAS personal directory can only be displayed when the user TNAS identity mapped disk is used.

At this point you have mapped the disk using the advanced user identity. And computers generally only allow one user to map disks from the same NAS at a time.

You can refer to points 4&5 of this, delete the cache and credentials of the advanced user, and then use the user TNAS to map the disk.viewtopic.php?t=2759

You can also create a new shared folder that only the advanced user and TNAS have permissions to, and then access it through the advanced user.
