Hello,
I'm new to Terra Master and on TOS5 at the moment. I want to keep my documents in sync with TerraSyncServer on the NAS and Client on my Windows. In my documents folder are old *.pst Outlook-Files, which are unused on 364 days/year. But nonetheless I want them to be backed up.
I've witnessed it 3 times now, that they are not copied and the TNAS-PC app shows "synchronizing... 1 File" for ages. TerraSync doesn't copy them and gets stuck. Reboot of the NAS and of the PC doesn't help. Unconfiguring and Uninstalling TerraSync and Deleting all Files also didn't help 2 times. There are no limitations configured, just one way backup.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
TerraSync get stuck on *.pst-files (Outlook-Files)
Re: TerraSync get stuck on *.pst-files (Outlook-Files)
Terrasync applies default filtering to files in the formats of pst",".swp",".temp",".tmp",".~",".!BW!","~.","#.",".part","thumbs.db",".crdownload",".","*.ost", etc. Please try saving as a different format filemcd wrote: ↑22 Jul 2024, 20:54 Hello,

Re: TerraSync get stuck on *.pst-files (Outlook-Files)
Hi TMpraj,
thank you for your quick reply. Is it a case of RTFM, that I just overlooked it, or is this information kind of hidden?
I totally get your intention behind filtering these files as people who are working with a multiple GB-sized pst-file, which is changed every couple of minutes, would ran into problems with syncing.
But is there a way to configure such default filtering? In my case it's a bit inconvenient when I have to rename them and rename them back, when needed.

Re: TerraSync get stuck on *.pst-files (Outlook-Files)
And second question: Why does TerraSync get stuck? Can I see the logs somewhere? After changing the file type on all PST-Files, they get synced but TerraSync is still stuck on something... "synchronizing... 1 File" and some files are still missing.

Re: TerraSync get stuck on *.pst-files (Outlook-Files)

Re: TerraSync get stuck on *.pst-files (Outlook-Files)
1. Log Path:
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\TerraSync\log
2.You can check the synchronization record in the tray of the TNAS PC, which file is being synchronized?
3.What versions of TNAS PC and TerraSync Server are you using?
If they are not the latest, please upgrade to the latest version for use.

Re: TerraSync get stuck on *.pst-files (Outlook-Files)
Thank you TMqiky, the log files helped.
I saw that there were a couple of weird files that stopped the sync. They were marked as system files, which they actually weren't. After deleting them it worked. The files weren't even shown in Poweshell.
Btw I'm using the most actual versions of TNAS and TerraSync Server

Re: TerraSync get stuck on *.pst-files (Outlook-Files)
Maybe I shouldn't post it here, but: When I use a HexEditor to look into the executable, I see that PST- and some other extensions. Didni't really try it, but I assume when you scratch those three characters out and replace it with something else TerraSync will process those PST files just as well? Just make sure Outlook doesn't have a ferm grip on them.. Kill the process?

Re: TerraSync get stuck on *.pst-files (Outlook-Files)
Due to the unique nature of .pst files, we cannot guarantee successful synchronization while maintaining data integrity. Therefore, we have implemented a default filter for such files. Many synchronization software applications also have similar default filtering rules.
