I am new here and don't know where this is the best place to post this thread at.
I looked at the latest TerraMaster product line and was interested in buying one. The reason is that I have a old wifi 5 router A netgear genie enterprise edition.
Right now looking to buy new desktop machines and to upgrade my wifi router. I don't like what is on the market for just wifi routers. In the past had people hack my router multiple times using deauth commands and sniffing for wpa2 handshakes. There was very limited control on what I can do to filter internet traffic.
Anyways, I been looking for a mini computer device to act like a wifi router. I thought just get a WIFI7 usb dongle .I would assume wifi 7 is also backwards capable. Anyways, I needed to ask if it's possible to use TerraMaster F8-SSD Plus as a wifi router?
I want to use it as a wifi router and a nas. Is this possible? Also does it have PFsense firewall? Or at least something similar that gives you a lot of control. Where I can either write a script to automate or tweak blocking possible ddos attacks or possible malware connections.
I would appreciate any ideas about this. I want to setup the wifi to be a captive portal. Instead of having a password.. would rather have someone create an account and use that as their password to gain access to the wifi. I am not sure what the limitations for this device.
Thank you for your time.
terra master latest devices use as wifi router?
Re: terra master latest devices use as wifi router?
TNAS currently supports a limited number of WIFI USB dongle models. (RTL8812AU and RTL8812BU chipsets).
TNAS does not have a soft routing feature at this time, if you want to implement it, maybe you can consider using a third party software to implement it. (The latest TOS6 is compatible with Ubuntu applications).
TNAS supports firewall, although it is not PFSense.
SPC privilege control is supported (TOS6). To know more please refer to:
