Hi guys,

I am new to raid, das and nas. But after a long research i figured that Terra master d8 Hybrid is a good and affordable solution for my needs, which is storing and editing my video files.

How can i know the compatible list of HDDs and SSDs? How can i choose the right ones? For example, can i buy the same speed but different sizes? Like 1 x WD red 7200rpm 16tb + 1 x WD red 7200 6TB + 1 x Samsung 980pro 2tb. whats the conditions on that? They should be all same? like 2 x WD Red 16TB + 2 TB Samsung 980 pro?

What if i choose to start with a samsung 980 1tb + 16TB WD red ? Later on can i easily expand?

Lets say i started with a Samsung 980 1TB + 16TB WD red 7200rpm
Total capacity 17TB! And the read/write speed will be around 400MB/s (approx)? Am i missing something on this? Wherever i read and watch, i get this conclusion..

So the total capacity would be 17TB (1TB SSD + 16TB HDD)

All the NVMe drivers are limited to a PCIe Gen3 ×2 connection to each slot by the RealTek RTL9210CN so theoretically 1.969 GBps is the maximum throughput per slot; there's zero point to buying the bleeding edge models of any available drives as you'd never achieve their advertised maximum capabilities.

I have the D8 hybrid and have had zero compatibility issues with the following:
WD Black 6TB HDDs
WD White label 12TB (Shucked from a WD expansion drive)
16TB Toshiba MG300 Enterprise drive

NVME wise
Crucial P2 2 TB
Crucial P3 2TB
Kingston Fury 2TB
Hynix P41 2TB

An old 2.5 inch Seagate 4TB shucked from an old Xbox expansion drive
