Recommended cameras for Surveillance Manager(TOS 5).

Post by TMzethar »

Due to the large number of camera brands and models on the market, and many of manufacturers using custom communication protocols, Surveillance Manager encounters great challenges when matching with such cameras. For the convenience of users, TerraMaster has tested and verified some camera that are well compatible with Surveillance Manager. Please refer to this list when purchasing your cameras.

Recommended Camera Models
HIKVISION DS-2DC2402IW-DE3
HIKVISION DS-IPC-K34HV2-LT
HIKVISION DS-IPC-B13HV3-LA
HIKVISION DS-IPC-B12HV3-LT
DAHUA DH-P40A2-PV
DAHUA DH-2H3400-ADW

Common FAQs:

1. Unable to connect to the camera?
1) Find the correct IP address of camera, and log in to check the web page of the camera or the connected device page of the router.
2) Make sure that the ONVIF account and password are consistent with the camera settings, whether the user name and password of the camera ONVIF account are entered correctly, and the correct HTTP port to connect the camera.
3) Please confirm that the ONVIF function has been enabled on the camera, some cameras need to be manually turned on and set the account password.
(Note: Some models of HIKVISION needs to manually enable the integration protocol (ONVIF protocol))

2. The connection is interrupted after adding the camera?
1) Assign a static IP address to the camera, preventing its IP from updating and causing a disconnection.
2) Please use a wired connection to provide a more stable stream. If the camera only supports wireless connection, please make sure the Wi-Fi signal is strong enough.
3) Open the Windows command prompt or macOS terminal and enter "ping your_camera's_IP_address", if there is no normal response, please check whether your network is stable.
4) Restart the camera and see if the connection is restored. Due to hardware limitations, some cameras require periodic restarts to maintain stable performance.
5) Check for recent firmware updates, some updates may affect the connection and cause a regression, reset the camera to see if the connection has been restored.

If you are using other models that are also compatible, you can post this model as a reference for other users.

For your information:
I bought the following camera and installed it using Surveillance Manager and it worked using the ONVIF protocol.

SV3C-B06W-5MP-HX

5MP (resolution Max.2560*1920 - but I set it to 2880*1620) but it only supports 15FPS despite it letting you set it to 30FPS!
I eventually sent it back as the bitrate was very low (485Kbps on variable rate and 1794Kbps on constant bitrate using H264) and not clear at those resolutions. But it may be better on a wired connection. cost £44.99 on Amazon.

I ended up getting 4 Reolink cameras, which all work on the Surveillance Manager - But I could only get them to connect with RTSP, not with ONVIF (so far - maybe with a little bit more knowledge I can get that to work)

Model: Reolink RLC-510WA

This is from MediaInfo from one of the recorded downloads.
Codec : H264
Bit rate : 6 663 kb/s
Width : 2 560 pixels
Height : 1 440 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate : 29.768 FPS

I have 4 of these cameras and my TNAS seems to handle all of them well, whilst also running Plex server & TerraPhotos.
The only issue I have is that sometimes one or two of the cameras lose their connection for a few seconds and then connection is restored. But, I believe this is the wi-fi signal strength and I am going to invest in a booster/repeater to solve this issue.

TNAS T12-423
RAID 5 - 18TB x 5
RAID 5 - 16TB x 3
RAID 5 - 2TB x 4

Current TNAS Load is 16.38%, CPU 27.11%, Memory 16.77% (just 8GB RAM - original Terramaster factory installation)

I hope this information helps.

Oh yeah, The Reolink RLC-510WA cameras cost £64.99 each, but Amazon have a 20% voucher (if you select it on the product page) which makes the adjusted cost £51.99
