D5-300c issues in first two bays under Mac OS

I recently purchased a D5-300C das to use as backup and file storage, following purchasing a new computer.

I've set everything up, first two drives in single mode, and connected and moved files around with 5 drives in each of the 5 bays with no issues under Win10 (some random USB disconnects, but I'm more inclined to think it's an issue with the computer than the unit).

I've now connected the unit to my new macbook air and am unable to get the first 2 bays to register as drives. Front leds never light up for those bays, and switching drives around from bay to bay shows that's an issue with those 2 bays in particular.

Couldn't find anything specifically that might apply here, so any help is appreciated.
