I just purchased my first NAS and had some questions

I've heard about different OS's you can install onto a NAS, but I was curious what you all would recommend for a first time NAS owner (moving away from a windows plex media server). Is TrueNAS SCALE better than TOS 6 or should I not even worry about that and just stick with TOS and run Plex on it? What are the benefits of one or the other? Thanks for any advise you can offer!
