Group permissions have no effect on Shares

Post by lintal »

Hello. I am trying to set permissions for file-shares by groups instead of individual users. They seem to have no effect however.

In previous threads, I have seen similar topics come up before, but they were more talking about the issue of recursively setting permissions for all the files within an existing share (viewtopic.php?p=26777).
I, on the other hand, am trying to setup a new (empty) share and give an entire group permissions.

Is there any way to achieve this, and/or is this a bug in TOS? Why give the option if it doesn't work...

Conversely, setting permissions on individual files also seems to be problematic.
Changing individual user-permissions do not seem to persist. Only group permissions seem to persist.

We live in hope based on this: viewtopic.php?p=36594#p36594

What I have seen so far is that if you use Group permission when creating a shared folder, members of the group will get permissions.

However, users added to the group later do not get permissions and cannot be added individually. However, my testing to date has been fairly limited so any other input would be appreciated.

I have also found that bulk copied files from another folder retain user permissions as they were in the original folder - which is not necessarily what is wanted.

Group permissions still need to be optimized, and currently only individual user permissions can be set.
