Hallo,
mein T-NAS F5-221 hat 2 LAN Ports.
1. LAN Port ist mit dem Router verbunden.
- Was kann man an LAN Port 2 anschließen?
- Wozu ist der 2. LAN Anschluss nützlich?
- Wie hat sich das der Hersteller gedacht?
- Auch zum Router verbinden, für mehr Geschwindigkeit?
LAN 1 & LAN 2 - wie und was anschliesen???
Re: LAN 1 & LAN 2 - wie und was anschliesen???
(Please excuse my reply in English)
Depending on your setup, the 2nd lan port can provide a couple of options.
Connect the 2 lan ports to different switches and have some redundancy in the event of cable/switch breakdown.
Connect 2nd lan port to router/swich and implement specific routing for different users/devices on the lan. Increased bandwith.
Depending on TOS, you can institute network bonding which provides increased bandwidth and/or redundancy depending on your choice(s).
Note that both the network adapters are speed limited (1Gbit on the F5-221) so SPEED will never increase beyond that, but more connections may be accommodated increasing viable throughput.
In some cases you might (just as example) connect one port via ppoe direct to isp and have an internet facing device. (Poor choice imo without better security). However, TOS does not enjoy any routing functions so the second lan port would not be able to provide internet connections.
