Speed difference between BTRFS and EXT4?

Post by SquarePeg »

Hi all

I've recently installed TOS5 from scratch and created a new RAID array, formatted as BTRFS but it appears to take ages to copy files to the pool via NFS. It was MUCH faster when it was formatted as EXT4, is this normal? The current transfer rate is aroun 79kB/s whereas on EXT4, it was 120MB/s

There is generally no speed difference between BTRFS and EXT4, much less such a big difference.
What type of RAID do you have? It could be that the RAID was synchronized while you were using BTRFS or that other processes were running that were taking up resources.

RAID 5, it's apparently fully synchronised. It's been 3 days now

When the read/write speed is low, please check the process occupancy in Control Panel - Resource Monitor module. In addition, please tell us the TNAS model and TOS version.

Hi, it's an F5-422, Version 5.1.131-00123. There's nothing else running. Until today when the NAS is constantly data scrubbing.

We can't confirm the problem at the moment, could you please provide more information?
Please generate and download the log report in TOS > Technical Support > Report Issues, and then send it to our support mailbox for inspection.
(If you can't send the zip package because it's too big, you can use the share link.)
This may allows us to better and faster judge the issue.
