Obviously not normal. Have you checked the fan controls in bios? I did find (on my older model) that I could modify the PWM settings (slope, etc) and get what I thought was improved fan response. But I also found a usb fan mounted under this particular model giving continuos air flow from below did help a little, but I never saw the temps you appear to be experiencing.

Are you sure the replacement unit will have different temperatures? Do you need any additional information on my device and a script to reproduce the problem?

By the way, I don't see how you can fix the high temperature by replacing my unit - all the hardware and thermal interface are fine already.
I think the cooling system is designed in such a way that the CPU can reach such temperatures. And the only way to make it cooler is to limit the TDP or turn off Turbo Boost in bios.

It didn't perform as expected in terms of heat dissipation and temperature, which is not in line with the design. Based on known information, we believe that this machine is experiencing some sort of hardware issue.

Just another piece of info:

Brand new F2-424. After insertion of old HDD running TOS6 I left the device to run at fixed fan speed for a couple of days. No apparent issues. Then set fan to auto. This am on start I almost immediately 'lost' an hdd from raid. Shutdown and reboot, raid self-fixed without any prolonged re-sync. Then, within about 10 minutes there was a over-temp alarm (buzzer). Fan had stopped (ZERO SPEED). Disk and cpu temps both showing in the +60C range. The device was, to all intents and purposes 'idling'. No i/o other than control panel GUI, no LAN being used, to tests being run.

Any chance TOS6.0.420 has the (hoped for) updates for the temp monitoring/fan control?

I may just wait a few days before updating so I can ensure I fully understand the changes and judge user feedback.
