F2-223 "lost" its 2nd NVME-Port

Post by anderl1969 »

Hi,

I have Proxmox Backup Server running on a F2-223 since last July. The OS is installed on a ZFS-mirror of 2 NVME-SSDs. The HDD-bays are used for backup-data.

A few days ago the zfs mirror degraded, because of the 2nd SSD went offline. After a few attempts with no success in getting this SSD online again, I was convinced, the SSD was dead. So I detached it and went for a new one, which arrived today. But the new SSD is also not recognized by PBS.
So I put the old SSD, which I proposed dead, in an USB-SSD-Adapter (also arrived today) and plugged it in my windows PC - SSD still works there.

So I know for sure, that not the SSDs are the problem but the F2-223 (or maybe PBS (Debian 12)).

PBS doesn't show the new ssd. And also lsblk on the shell only shows the 1st SSD and the two HDDs.

Code: Select all

➜ lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINTS
sda 8:0 0 1.8T 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 1.8T 0 part
└─sda9 8:9 0 8M 0 part
sdb 8:16 0 1.8T 0 disk
├─sdb1 8:17 0 1.8T 0 part
└─sdb9 8:25 0 8M 0 part
nvme0n1 259:0 0 232.9G 0 disk
├─nvme0n1p1 259:1 0 1007K 0 part
├─nvme0n1p2 259:2 0 1G 0 part
└─nvme0n1p3 259:3 0 231.9G 0 part
There should be something like 'nvme1n1'...
Any ideas what to do?

So finally I hooked a monitor and keyboard to the F2-223 and entered BIOS settings. There were both SSDs recognized!!! To be sure, I performed the BIOS integrated SSD tests on both devices and all tests were passed.
Afterwards also PBS recognized both SSD ports again. Now everything is up and running again, but I have no idea what caused the origin problem, neither why it vanished by itself...
