Good day all, I’m new to NAS, Linux, and this forum. I’ve run into an issue why configuring my new NAS that I assume has to be something simple. Is remote access enabled or disabled for all users, or can some users be locked into local access only?
This NAS is designed to be a backup solution for a PC, Mac, and multiple iPhones. I’d like to create a user with an easier password for my kids to be able to backup while on our local network (needs read/write). I don’t want that same account to have access remotely over the internet.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Limit Remote Access by User?
If you are using a common folder or individual/separate folders (not home folders) for these backups per user, you can limit the IP address ranges that are allowed to access the folder under the SMB tab when you edit the shared folder; essentially limit it to your home network address range(s) for what you're asking to implement.
