Restoring Data.

Post by rmistry22 »

Hope someone can help.
Terramaster F5-421.
1x Toshiba 256Gb SSD (OS loaded here)
3x Ironwolf 6Tb drives (BTRFS RAID 5)
1x Integral 1Tb SDD (Hyperdrive)

Was running TOS 4.2.44, been working fine for a long time, decided time to move to TOS5.0. So I backed everything up to USB drive as advised by Terramaster Tech Support, in the end I had to do it via robocopy using my computer, not ideal, but worked.

I installed and setup 5.1.123, then upgraded to 5.1.131.

Attempting to restore data now...... what a nightmare.

Connecting USB drive to the NAS can only copy one folder at a time, it's much quicker than trying to copy over the network.

Selecting all files to try and copy and paste results in Error and fails!

Using my desktop computer works, but it is extremely slow.

Tried USB BAckup, but it tries to restore to a subfolder in the folder I want the files.... i.e. restore to video\ makes another directory in video first.... so it becomes video\video\folders not video\folders which is what I want.

Anyone know how I can restore my files quickly, rather than having to leave me desktop running for what looks like is going to take over 2 days!

Thanks in advance.

Unless it is a direct copy, backup and restore will involve the existence of the source folder.

Hi,
Yes, I found out the hard way.

Had to restore by plugging USB in to my computer and transferring the files back.

Long and slow process and had to use my desktop computer, leaving it running over 48 hours!

Restore path should be flexible on USB Copy!!!
