Re: failed drives after secure erase/eject

Post by usersky »

After some research I found that secure erase is issued with a password. So the password that locks my drives is one known by terramaster since it was set at the start of the secure erase and would presumably be reset at the end (that never happened). Some details here:
https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... -the-drive

In case of ther NAS manufacturers they unlocked drives in similar situations using their passwords. I won't name any but there are details to be found on the internet of support guys ssh-ing and fixing the issue or even the affected customers getting the password so they can unlock the drives.

So @TMzethar please let me know what can i do to unlock the drives. I would gladly offer remote access or do the thing myself if I'd get the temp password used by the TOS for secure erase. These two drives cost more than the NAS, please help guys

When using the "Secure Erase" function, it is necessary to lock the hard drive to prevent other operations from affecting the final erase effect.
Please contact customer service window on the right side of official website homepage or contact supprot team mailbox. We will arrange an engineer to unlock the disks for you.
To contact our team, please send email to following addresses, remember to replace (at) with @:

As promised above, for the help I got from the tech guys at terra-master, I bought another terra-master unit, a D5-300C. I will play connecting it to the F5-221 that I thoroughly enjoy using. Great products.
