I've recently noticed my TNAS (5.1.67-00214) loses time, a lot and quickly.
It also doesn't seem to ntp synchonise.
I'm about to leave it with a known starting point to assess how much time is being lost and will update shortly.
TNAS losing time and not synchronising

Re: TNAS losing time and not synchronising
This should make it clearer.
I forced time synch of the TNAS @ 15:06 GMT+10
I left it and went out.
When I came back it the time displayed in the admin page is 15:14
The actual time is 17:21
What on earth could cause it to run so slow?
Further checks:
Based on the above I think I can ignore it - buts its very distracting and annoying.

Further checks:
- I created a test file from file manager - it's creation time and date is correct, within file manager and on the file system, and read via SMB.
The date cammand in terminal shows the correct date and time.
If I log out of the admin webpage and back in the time is now correct.

Re: TNAS losing time and not synchronising
If you keep the front-end web page of TOS open, the time on the page will be counted by the web cumulative count. When you jump to other pages, the system resources of the TOS page will be limited to a minimum, causing the count to slow down. You only need to refresh the page to get the latest system time.
We will try to optimize this in the future new releases.

Re: TNAS losing time and not synchronising
Noted, tested, and agree.
But that is a very strange way of doing that (deriving display time in the web page rather than calling it from the server regularly).

Re: TNAS losing time and not synchronising
It is unreasonable for the front-end page to frequently request system time. We will try other methods.

Re: TNAS losing time and not synchronising
Sorry, unreasonable?
To poll "Date" at the same time as the other variables being displayed? CPU, memory, network, volume utilisation, temp, load fanspeed, etc?
Give me a break.
