RAID degraded?

Post by Tricky »

Just fired up my other F5-221 as a fresh start the latest software etc with it configured as TRAID and thought I would try replacing a disk, but now I have raid degraded displayed, so how do I fix this?

Please check which hard disk fell out of the array? You can try shutting down your NAS, reseating all hard drives and then restarting it.

I was trying to replace with a larger disc, as you're supposed to be able to? And that's when I got the "raid degraded" message, so far I have tried to do a simple reset, but the message stays, so I have had to re-initialize and now waiting an age for the storage pool to synchronise.

You mentioned the need to replace a certain hard drive with a larger one, and when you remove the hard drive, it prompts that the TRAID array is missing the hard drive (also known as a downgrade), which is a normal situation. After that, please insert a new and larger hard drive and edit the storage pool to select 'Repair'.
