Recycle Bin

Post by Brodieman »

In the old TOS, when you created a share you could enable the recycle bin and have it delete the file after so much time being in the recycle bin. In TOS 5.1.40 it looks like you have to schedule it? It also looks like its all of them? So if I schedule it for Sunday at noon and I delete a file on Sunday at 1pm, it sit there for 1 week. If I delete a file on Sundat at 11:55am it sits there for 5 minutes? That seems dumb?

Am I understanding that right?

Look under Scheduled Tasks. 'Empty Recycling Bins' can be set up and configured there the way (I think) you want it. You can create multiple tasks to act, in different ways, on different bins if you wish. (I include 'all' in one task, run daily, with a 5 day delay for example, to keep maintenance to a minimum).

But it will still only keep a file in there as long as before the next task? So one file could be in there for 7 days and one could be 7 minutes? That is kind of useless?

1st Page: Enter Task Name > Enable > Set Cycle/Time/Repeat (as required)
