Copying files from a windows server
Copying files from a windows server
I just installed my Terramaster NAS and I want to move my server files to the device. How can I copy all of my data?
Re: Copying files from a windows server
Moving your server files to the device is a simple process with a few different options, depending on your preferences and the amount of data you need to copy. Here are some methods you can use to copy your data to your Terramaster NAS:
- Copy files manually: One easy way to move your server files to your Terramaster NAS is to copy them manually using File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). Simply connect to your Terramaster NAS using its network address, then drag and drop files from your server to the appropriate folder on the NAS. This method can be time-consuming if you have a lot of data to copy, but it's simple and doesn't require any additional software.
- Use Terramaster's TOS backup tool: Terramaster's TOS (Terramaster Operating System) includes a built-in backup tool that can be used to copy data from your server to your NAS. To use this tool, open the TOS web interface and navigate to "Control Panel" > "Backup & Sync" > "Local Backup". From here, you can select the files and folders you want to back up and choose the destination folder on your Terramaster NAS.
- Use third-party software: There are many third-party backup and synchronization tools available that can help you copy data to your Terramaster NAS. Some popular options include Gs Richcopy 360 , Acronis True Image, EaseUS Todo Backup, and GoodSync. These tools typically offer more advanced features than the built-in TOS backup tool, such as compression, encryption, and scheduling.
Good luck

When passing on advice, make sure you are talking about the same OS, or make the distinction clear.
I believe your suggestions are for TOS4 genus. They don't necessarily apply for TOS5+

With some of the 'backup & restore' options it will literally be a 2-step process. The 'backup' will (in most cases) create a proprietary backup file (image) from which you can restore to the destination of choice. [I use EasUS TODO Backup on all my PCs (paid multi-copy lifetime licence - well worth it imo) and backup TO the NAS. I also use this to backup FROM the NAS to plug-in hdd .]F5-221 TOS7.0.0777 - 4x4TB (Ironwolf) Traid
