The first post doesn't offer an .INS new installation image, so if you'd like to go down the clean install route, allow the initialization wizard to grab the newest available option or download the newest available image from https://support.terra-master.com/download for your particular TNAS & use the custom option in that wizard.

You can then upgrade to 5.1.40 afterwards.

I had this too. After a restart, the directories had disappeared.

Guys, I'm asking again, how about U series, U8-722-2224 specifically? https://support.terra-master.com/download have 5.1.37 for it. Are 5.1.40 applicable for them? There is no U series in starting post, but all previous release notes, 5.1.37 for example, also not mentioned about U series.

If they haven't listed it here, or on the support pages, I guess they have not released it yet. Different processor set, so it probably takes a different build route.

Or they are just slow with download page updating. Because TOS 5.1.37 (X86) is Released for update also not mentioned U series, but download page for U8-722-2224 has it. That's why I'm asking.

"encrypted shared folders created on 5.1.37 cannot be decrypted in subsequent versions.
We recommend that you reinstall back to 5.1.37 and export the data from the encrypted shared folder. After updating to 5.1.40, you can continue to use the encrypted shared folder."

Shouldn't there be a very prominent warning note in the release notes for 5.1.40 about this!

i.e. don't upgrade to 5.1.40 if you have used encrypted folders created in version 5.137 (or below (assumption!)) and then providing advice about exporting data out of the encrypted folder before you do the upgrade.

You need to confirm the TOS version and system partition size you are currently using. If you are using TOS4, it is recommended that you continue to use TOS4, because upgrading to TOS5.1 requires backing up data and completely resetting the hard disk.
