Cannot start either Emby or Plex

I cannot start either Emby or Plex

Three evenings ago my Plex server stopped working. I tried several times to restart it, but to no avail. The next morning it still was not working so I searched your online forums. Subsequently I followed all the steps on viewtopic.php?f=83&t=364 but to no avail.

I wondered if updating to TOS 5 would help, so did so, successfully (in so far as my data was intact). But still Plex would not start, and also a couple of other apps that I use were not supported, so after wasting several hours I downgraded again to TOS 4.2. Again, my data appears to be in tact.

However, Plex still won't start, even when I tried deleting the entire Plex Data folder for a 'clean install'.

And, to add insult to injury, my Emby server, which I maintain as a backup, now has also stopped and will not start again.

Have searched and searched, but help online is very sketchy.

I submitted a report to Terramaster's technical support, both from within the app (the interface for which is so hokey that I can't tell whether it's submitted or not) and by email, but have not even recieved an acknolwedgement, let alone reply.

So hoping someone here might be able to help. Have noticed a couple of similar posts on here, that have been locked without a solution being published.

As you might imagine, I've wasted a few days on this now and am at my wits end, running out of ideas (other than to go out and buy a Synology NAS...)

Ok, it's been a week since I posted this and no response. I have not even had an acknowledgement from Terramaster support for the report I lodged via the TM Desktop Interface.

Surely I can't be the only person to have these issues? And it applies to at least two software packages, so it isn't an issue specific to either Plex or Emby (I've even tried installing Jellyfin, with the same issue that it won't 'start').

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hello,

I’ve been trying to send this report for more than a week, with the Zipfile system report as an attachment. Apparently the email is being blocked from sending because it is detecting a ‘threat’ within the attachment, so have just resent my report in this email in the hope that will get through and that you can offer some assistance.

Thanks to Terra-Master Support, who sorted out my issue so I can again start both Emby and Plex on my Terramaster NAS.

It took them nearly an hour of phaffing about in the code to get it working again - something well beyond my ability to sort myself.

Still not sure what caused it in the first place, but grateful for this level of after-sales service.
