TNAS F4-220 will not boot
TNAS F4-220 will not boot
Everything was running fine yesterday but tonight I came in to find it off. Hit the power button and all 4 lights go to red with the power button, no LAN light. No matter if I pull all the drives or just one or two, all 4 drive lights turn red with no LAN light, I saw somewhere where you can pull all 4 drives and the LAN light should come on after about 2 minutes, it doesnt, Basically no matter what drives I do/dont pull, I dont get a LAN light there for I have no connection to the TOS. It seems to have bricked itself.
Re: TNAS F4-220 will not boot
Hi, Is there a beep when you turn on the device?
If so, it means the device is still good.
If not, please take out the battery of the device, connect the positive and negative terminals of the battery holder with iron wire for 10 seconds, then assemble the device.
Try again to open, if there is a beep, that the device is still good
If there is still no beep, the device is damaged.

Re: TNAS F4-220 will not boot
No beeps but you are saying to take this thing apart? Is the battery a coin type battery? Is it in the back under the case cover I suppose?
Re: TNAS F4-220 will not boot
Is there no beep sound when powered on? It is a coin type battery, and you need to completely disassemble the TNAS.
If there is a beep sound after short circuiting the battery base, but TNAS cannot be found without plugging in the hard drive to boot, you can try creating a new USB initboot: viewtopic.php?f=76&t=1455

Re: TNAS F4-220 will not boot
Ok, so I took it apart, shorted the battery for about 30 seconds, put a new battery in just in case, put it back together...still no beeping. I guess its dead and I have to dish out for a new NAS. Does anyone know if there is a way to buy another NAS (not TerraMaster), put 4 disks in it (RAID 5) and NOT lose the 28TB of data I have on these disks?
Re: TNAS F4-220 will not boot
Generally speaking, each brand of NAS has its own unique partition mode. Therefore, when you need to transfer hard drives to other brands of models, please be careful that they may format your hard drive, so you have to find ways to backup data. You can also consider using the new x86 architecture TNAS model to inherit the hard drives and continue using them.

Re: TNAS F4-220 will not boot
I have backups but it takes days to restore 28TB to spinning disks and I no longer trust the TerraMaster brand after this issue. Sorry for that but I understand losing a disk that constantly spins but not losing the device itself. Its basically a tiny PC motherboard in there and they dont usually go belly up. Peripherals, drives, memory...sure but not the motherboard. And it's an expensive brick. Thanks for the help though, I do appreciate you guys trying..
Re: TNAS F4-220 will not boot
Same issue here ...
Replaced Battery but nothing changed.
Also the NAS was running properly till yesterday evening.
All LEDs but network are on. Also on LAN connection no LED.
No Sound ...
Does anybody know what the Firmware file in Download area is needed for?
Can it be just copied on an USB-Stick?
Thanks and regards,
rico
