F2-210 Windows 11 Drive Mapping "Access Denied"

Post by hondab »

I have an F2-210 that I just started from scratch with new drives. With the old drives in, everything worked as I expected. Reliable storage and access from all computers in our home office. We needed more storage space so I installed two new larger drives. Now with the new drives, I can no longer Map Network Drives on Windows computers, all of these computers previously did have mapped drives to the NAS before the drive upgrade. The error message is "Access Denied" every time. MacOS computers connect as they should.

I ran the initialization twice and was not prompted for an Admin password either time. How can I find, change or add an Admin password now?

SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support is installed on these computers. Again, these same computers connected perfectly before the installation of new drives. I think there is a network protocol or permission issue but don't know where to look.

I shut down the NAS. I removed the 2 drives. I installed the 2 new drives. I powered up the NAS. I located the NAS using the app and at the first screen I told it to initialize. It checked both drives, said they were "good" and then formatted them. This step may have been before it formatted: It got my information, emailed me a code and created my account. I can log onto the NAS from any computer browser, but can only copy files from MacOS.

Fixed.

When I let the device initialize after putting my new drives in it downloaded a newer version of TOS than I was previously using. There's an error in this new version: It defaults to a networking workgroup of "workgroup" and Windows defaults to "WORKGROUP". I changed it in the NAS control panel and voila, suddenly Windows computers easily saw the NAS again.
