'You require permission from Unix User\root to make changes..' Attempting to delete

Post by MattS »

I'm attempting to delete a few files from my F4-210 NAS, using SMB/mapped drives and windows explorer. I am getting a message that I require permission from 'Unix User\root' to make changes.

I have read/write permissions applied to the account I was using, even converted the mapped drive to the primary admin account, but got the same error. However, if I remove 'Recycle bin' from the TNAS shared options, I can delete without issue.

The recycle bin was an added safety measure I had hoped to use, but seems it has either special requirements or a bug.

Hello, this may be because you do not have sufficient permissions to delete the file and need to authenticate with a user name and password with sufficient permissions. You can try using an administrator account for access and check to see if the user has permission to delete the file. If you still cannot delete the file, try logging into your F4-210 NAS as superuser through a command line interface (such as PuTTY) and try to delete the file.
