Device name: TNAS
Model: U12-322
TOS version: TOS_X642.0_5.1.33
After upgrade, since reboot, there were lost access from LDAP users. All tests of LDAP connections were succesfull exept 'load LDAP directory' was failed. After that U12 works extremely slow. No connection over http, ssh. Even local (VGA/USB) console wont react properly.
Metal bricked again.
Any ideas?
Update to TOS_X642.0_5.1.33 causes loose of LDAP connection and very poor overall performance

How many users in your LDAP server?

Re: Update to TOS_X642.0_5.1.33 causes loose of LDAP connection and very poor overall performance
Small enough. 150-200.
After hard reset it starts quite normally, it connects to LDAP.
but trying to see Processes in Control Panel, cause grey screen, and TNAS became very slow.
iSCSI manager shows empty window with no LUN
desktop won't show any icons.
Something wrong with firmware.

I can not even roll back to previous version.

Maybe that will be hint for you:
At attempt to downgrade and upload an old firmware sometimes flashes and vanishes message 'Volume capacity is exhausted' or something similar.
This mean a shortage of free space somewhere, I believe.
Why this important info has not been written in logs, system messages and sent by email?
Just write on screen very fast and magically dissolves.

yet another possible thing to inspect:
are there any change in memory requirements for 5.1.33, my system has only 8Gb 2400 DIMM Samsung, as of MegaRAC reports. Does this enough?

I successfully tried to access console. top shows overload of physical memory (8GB RAM) and overuse of swap:
Re: Update to TOS_X642.0_5.1.33 causes loose of LDAP connection and very poor overall performance
Upgrading RAM to 32Gb (2x16) solved this problem.
At moment the memory load achieved 29Gb (due to BTRFS tasks, possibly), but swap is clean, no HDD involved, so it works.
Please, check this firmware with 8GB ram and BTRFS volume size ~60TB, try to update, and do any tasks at web interface, at some moment it should freeze. then soft reset (easy touch on power button).
Then login to local console and run top command.
I believe LDAP problems, web interface problems caused by memory shortage.
Look like fine it works at 32Gb

btrfs does not require too much memory even 60TB is not an issue.
From the system board, you can monitor the system resource usage like CPU and memory, and check in the "processes" which one is taking too much your resources. but it could be too late to do so if your device falls into freeze.

Re: Update to TOS_X642.0_5.1.33 causes loose of LDAP connection and very poor overall performance
Processes of care and cleanup in btrfs often require much more memory than it suggested. Depends on data arrangement, and fixups at restart to restore clean status of FS.btrfs does not require too much memory even 60TB is not an issue.
btrfs_traansacti for example. I have noticed this one overloads CPU.
After upgrade to 32GB system runs smoothly. It's been monitored for 72 hours. Also utilization lowered.
