Configuration: F4-210, TOS 4.2.41-2203011269, Plex Media Server 1.31.3.6868, two 8-TB hard drives in RAID 0 (Volume #2).
I've already read through other topics and not been able to find an answer.
I recently added a second 8-TB hard drive to my NAS. Because my new drive was slightly smaller than the existing 8-TB drive, I had to back up my files to an external drive and create a new storage pool from scratch. After successfully completing that process, I began moving my media files back to the NAS. I also installed the Plex server (version above) and it said that it installed successfully. However, after installation, the Plex application showed a status of Stopped. I clicked the Start button, the status showed Configuring for a few seconds, then I got an Operation Successful alert. Despite this alert, the status still shows Stopped. Each time I click Start, the same thing happens.
I've tried restarting my NAS several times but nothing has changed. I checked my Permission levels and I have read/write access throughout the entire NAS. I've tried locating the Plex files, but I can't find them anywhere and it almost seems like none of the Plex Media Server files are stored anywhere on the NAS.
The only difference with my previous configuration was a single hard drive in (I believe) a RAID 1 configuration. All other configuration parameters were the same as shown above. Plex Media Server ran on that system with no issues whatsoever. I'd be very grateful for any solutions your could provide.
Plex Server won't start after HDD addition
Re: Plex Server won't start after HDD addition
UPDATE: I went to the Applications window and clicked the Manage button. The window that appeared shows that Plex is installed on Volume #1. However, my storage volume is called Volume #2. I tried to change that but had trouble when deleting my old volume (it kept re-appearing) so my new volume was created as Volume #2. Could this be the cause of Plex not starting? Thanks.
Re: Plex Server won't start after HDD addition
SECOND UPDATE: I backed up my data once again and recreated the storage pool so that it showed Storage Pool #1 with a new volume called Volume #1. Problem solved. Plex now starts and I'm able to log in to it. Hopefully this experience helps others with the same problem.
