F2-221 & D4-300: USB 'not mounted'
Afternoon - I plugged a phone into the second USB port... I was hoping to back it up.
But TOS (5.131) now says there is not USB device connected, and the HDD do not show in Control Panel. (In Windows, the drives show - and Shared Folders still work - but the usbshares all show as empty, but the drives have the same amount of used space.)
How can I repair this?
Cheers,
Chris

Re: F2-221 & D4-300: USB 'not mounted'
Hi Roy - yes, a Motorola E20. If I select 'file transfer over USB' in Android I can use the phone like a plug-in drive. It's much faster than Bluetooth.
Anyway, it upset something and now TOS thinks there are no USB drives attached.
Cheers,
Chris

We did not test attaching a phone to USB. There are so many phone models in the market, I think we will not be able to test them all or even some of them. The reason could be that the Linux kernel does not provide such a USB driver for your phone model.

Re: F2-221 & D4-300: USB 'not mounted'
Morning Roy - backing up the phone does not matter, I'll not be trying it again either!
But the HDD in the D4 are all not recognised in TOS. I need to get them working again! (On my Windows laptop, the drives show as 'no data', but they are still using the same amount of disc space as before. Can we get TOS to 'see' the installed USB drives again please?
Cheers,
Chris

what kind of drives you installed in your D4-300? what are the file systems on your drives? Have these drives been used and installed a TOS?

Yes Roy, these drives have been in use in TOS 4 & 5, and worked fine until I plugged in the second USB.

Just because your drives contain TOS system partitions, after a system reboot, the system will not treat them as normal USB drives. Only try to plug in your USB after the system boot.

Re: F2-221 & D4-300: USB 'not mounted'
Morning Roy - I tried re-starting the NAS and then plugging in the D4 unit, but it's made no difference: TOS says there's no USB mounted (though Windows still shows the drives full of data, though each says 'The folder is empty' when I click on it.) When I first plugged in the phone, I got a message saying that the USB drives had been abnormally (?) ejected, though everything was still connected.
So I still have no access to the data or backups in the USB D4-300.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: F2-221 & D4-300: USB 'not mounted'
Ah-ha! It seems I can't just re-connect the USB box, I have to re-boot the NAS with the USB disconnected, then re-connect the USB and TURN OFF the D4 and TURN IT ON again. (Simply pulling the USB connection out and putting it in again does not work.)
Anyway, got there in the end! All drives are present and correct, with one backup successfully done. Phew!
Thanks Roy,
Chris
