Should I update to TOS 5?

Post by sports_wook »

Running rock-solid (which is rare on this OS) on v4.2.40 for quite some time. I'm very much against updating when thing are so stable but my primary use for this NAS is for Docker, but I'm starting to be left out of image updates on Docker due to the old kernel version in TOS 4.

If you updated to TOS 5 and use docker - how is it going for you? Any issues, bugs, or errors that I should be aware of? Do you regret updating, or are things stable?

Did the docker directory mapping change (/mnt/md0/appdata/docker on TOS 4)?

Did you lose any data during the update from TOS 4 to 5?

Convince me/help me decide based on your experience - update to TOS 5, or not?

There are very difficult to answer. I did have some issues after updating to TOS 5, but now seems the latest version 5.1.31 work better. If you are happy with your current version, you may stay.

Thanks for your reply. Do you use Docker? Did you lose anything in the update process with volumes or containers?

No, I do not use docker. I just use these two little things for my data backup and running Terra Photo. The misfortune of losing data has not yet happened to me.
