1st set up fine, problems getting it up and running again

Hi all, first post I'm having some trouble with my F4-421.
Everything seemed to set up OK last year when I got it, I got sidetracked until now and never put any files on there.
I connected it all up again and tried reinstalling the pc software for ubuntu.

I have 2 issues:

When I run the app image pc software for ubuntu its just a black screen.

The LAN is flashing green intermittently. I've tried using different ports and 3 different ethernet cables.

Otherwise, Ive set up desktop tos via http://tnas. local and installed plex.

I want to start putting files onto the nas but im not sure what to do next or where I've gone wrong..

We need to determine whether it is still running normally in this state. Please try to start TNAS without installing the hard disk to see if it can be found?

Hi thanks for you reply.

I changed os to Windows 10 to see if the tnas pc software would work for win.
It does.

Now I can't login to tnas remote access online with any browser in windows!

The login page does not accept my Id (this Id does not exist!) the box does not accept @ character as the username was an email address.

As asked I removed the disc and powered back on. The LED for LAN is still flashing intermittently.
