OPENVPN Setup Issues

Post by yotatoy »

I have went through every possible configuration setup I can figure out on GUI for VPN setup. Tried manual and with config file.

Nothing will work, so I logged in via SSH to look at the log. It reports the following error:

Code: Select all

openvpn[16528]: Options error: Unrecognized option or missing or extra parameter(s) in [CMD-LINE]:1: config (2.4.4)
Running openvpn --version reports the following:

Code: Select all

openvpn --version
openvpn: init zlog failed
: No such file or directory

How can I get this VPN working?

Hi!
Please check whether the IP you filled in is public network IP, whether the router has mapped the port of openvpn, and whether the CA certificate is a certificate exported by the VPN server.

The CA cert is provided by VPN service, I even talked with their support to make sure I had most current ca.crt

We tried different server names not public IPs for the server (comercial VPN)

Router port forwarding is not required in this case as my NAS is a VPN Client to a VPN server on the network. I use the same VPN service on multiple other clients in my household with same setup.
