Would be nice to see the option to allow a USB 3.0 SSD to be used for cache on the RAID since I am sure most of us would prefer to use all their RAID slots to hard drives. Being able to add external HDD's to the existing RAID is also a nice option but not necessary at lest for me.
And it would be nice to be able to format external storage at NTFS, an option which isn't available on 4.2.13 for the F5-422 system. I use Seagate 5TB USB 3.0 drives to store my torrents on.
Thanks,
External Storage extra options
Re: External Storage extra options
Sure, we will add the NTFS formatting to our wish list.
By the way, I do not think a USB SSD is fast enough to act as SSD cache. In near future, we are going to release new nas models which support NVMe SSD.

Re: External Storage extra options
can i second NTFS for my vote also, while i understand the NAS drive is linux based, in a disaster recovery situation it would be brilliant if you could just plug the USB drive into a windows based computer and read the backup data from it directly without having to worry about VM's or extra apps to read the data

That's what I miss most about my dearly departed WinNT NAS. Pop out a drive, direct connect to the PC and recover.

thank you, has this changed with updates? im fairly certain when i plugged in my USB to start with under a 4.1.X version it insisted on initalising the USB to EXT4 i can now see with another usb thats formatted NTFS this is now able to read it directly without needing to be intialised

Re: External Storage extra options
I just checked the past release records, I did not find any update about Kernel or USB driver for 210 series.
