How can I edit a storage pool on my F4-210

Post by ianbhenderson73 »

Hi

I took delivery of a brand new F4-210 last year, and at the time installed a single 4Tb Western Digital Red NAS drive. Since then I've been extremely happy with the unit and have transferred a lot of documents onto it, including the vast majority of my DVD and BluRay collection so that I can use it for Plex.

As you might imagine, the amount of space available on that hard-drive has slowly diminished and I'm now down to around 800Gb available. So I've ordered a second WDRNAS drive of the same size and have installed it.

Here's my problem, which I accept is entirely of my own making: I have added the new hard drive to the same Storage Pool as the original one was on, which means that the unit is "seeing" both drives as a RAID-1 array which in turn means that I haven't increased the available capacity as intended. Is there any way of removing that second drive from the Storage Pool and reinitialising it in a second Storage Pool so that the total capacity becomes 8Tb? Or at the very least having both drives in the same Storage Pool but NOT configured as a RAID 1?

To be clear, I would greatly prefer NOT to have to zap both drives back to factory default and start again because to do that would give me a major problem in terms of where to store the 3Tb+ of data that's currently on the unit while that process happens.

TIA

hello
1. 2 disks created as JBOD/RAID 0, with a total capacity of "8TB",
2. Only back up all of your data (transfer to other storage devices) before re-creating JBOD/RAID 0. To rebuild, go to the Control Panel, remove the volume and storage pool and rebuild the JBOD/RAID 0 storage pool and volume.
