I am refreshing NAS HD's using a TerraMaster F2-210 with 18TB of space available.
I need to move 9 TB of music files from an old Buffalo L220 NAS. When I click on File Manager a dialogue box opens to suggest using
SMB by typing "file://192.168.1.32 in file manager
I di that and the folder opens up. There are no further instruction s
what is the next step

You just need to open another SMB windows for your Buffalo, then you can copy file from Buffalo to TNAS.

I am getting an average of 35mb/s (according to Windows File Manager) transfer speed.
The Buffalo L220 claims 50 mb/s write speed. TerraMaster F2-210 claims 124mb/s. I know this also depends on the quality of the HD so I guess I am doing pretty good. The slow speed of the Buffalo is one of the reasons I am making the change.
Everything in my system is gigabit standard, both NAS's, Switch, Cat 6e cables
It is more than twice as fast as it was when using just Windows to copy.

I got 6.5TB to move and at 35gb/s it looks like it could be 100hrs.
We will see.

The transfer speed being reported could also be a result of the file sizes being moved as well. When I move large files I get proper transfer speeds, whereas when I transfer smaller files, such as a directory of photos, it can hover around 30/35 and sometimes lower.
