TOS 7 - Feature request: Distrobox + S.O immutable

To improve system resilience, an immutable Linux distribution could be adopted, such as Fedora Silverblue/Kinoite, openSUSE MicroOS or Kalpa Or Aeon, Vanilla OS, or Endless OS and others. These systems provide a read-only base system with transactional updates, significantly reducing the risk of system breakage.

In addition, Distrobox could be used to enhance developer-mode support, as it allows running multiple Linux distributions in isolated containers while remaining fully integrated with the host system. This approach enables reversible changes, safe experimentation, and testing without the risk of compromising system stability.

Furthermore, this architecture provides stronger protection against ransomware and other threats that could compromise the NAS, since the immutable base system and transactional updates significantly limit unauthorized system-level modifications.

Best regards.

Switching the Linux distribution in use is a major project, which means the current system needs to be re-transplanted. However, regarding the proposal for distrobox, I will feed it back to the relevant product team to evaluate this feature.

Thank you for the response, and I hope this feature — or at least part of it — will be approved soon.
