[Help] Connection drops with NAS
Posted: 16 Dec 2025, 23:43
I have a new F2-425 with 2 12Tb disks.
I have the issue several times a day where the connection with the NAS drops. After a few minutes, the connection is restored.
This has several consequences:
* TOS gives a white page
* Time Machine backups fail (always) due to the dropped connection
* The NAS is no longer visible in Mac Finder nor in Windows File Explorer
* The Plex (on LG TV) stops playing in the middle of the movie. Sometimes, we can watch a movie without problem, sometimes this happens several times in the same movie
* The Plex player states that the NAS is not available
* Open Excel/Word files can no longer be saved (sometimes causing the application to crash, losing all work!!)
* A Mac pop-up says 'server connections disrupted'
I checked several things but this keeps on happening:
* I checked the LAN light on the NAS when the issue occurs, but this is happily blinking...
* There are no notifications
* When the issues is not occurring, the NAS is 'Running Smoothly' according to the TOS dashboard
* The status of both disks is 'Good'
I checked online for suggestions on how to solve this, but to no avail.
* Disk sleeps is set to 'Never'
* There is no Power on/off schedule
* The NAS has a fixed IP-address
* SMB file service is enabled
PLEASE HELP!!
