I'm beginner user to NAS and have question about TRAID.

I have F2-425 unit with two drives 10TB and 4TB.

I setup hard drives in TRIAD configuration, hoping that I will have more than 4TB of available space. However after synchronization I see only 4TB and can't find a way to add missing space.

I though TRAID is advertised as something that will allow me to have more than 4TB of space in such config.

The largest drive in a TRAID configuration still gets associated with "redundancy". TRAID configurations are based on overall drive capacity, not fractional portions of drives. With a two drive system, your best approach is to use two equal drives. It will essentially end up being equivilant to a mirrored pair.

TRAID shows it's efficiency with 3+ drives & mixed capacities. For example, 1 TB + 10TB + 8TB would yield 9TB usable storage (1TB+8TB) with the 10TB being the redundancy drive. It also has the ability to start a TRAID with 1 drive & increase it over time with addition of new drives. One drive has no redundancy, two drives - you get the storage associated with the smallest drive, three+ drives - you get total storage minus that of the largest drive.
