Does the F5-221 5-Bay NAS allow 3 bays for RAID 5 and 2 bays for RAID 1 simultaneously? Or do you have to use all the drives in one RAID array?

You are right, you can use 2, 3, or 5 drivers and set them in raid 1 or raid 5 which depends on you.
