New pool synchronisation speed

Hi,

New to Terramaster. I have an F4-425 NAS and a D4-320 DAS. Set up pool and volumes on the NAS with no issues. When I came to use the DAS, via TOS 6, to add a new pool on the USB attached DAS it said "will take 1587 minutes to complete". Now, I know sychronisation takes longer the larger the drives - although why an empty pool needs synchronising I dunno - however my question is more 'why is the estimated completion time so optimistic?'

It's been going 3.5 hours and only synchronised 0.4%. At that rate it will take almost 20 days to synchronise 18TB of blank space. And, going off the NAS when I created that pool, it will then start again and check for errors. So 40 days, or over a month and a half. That seems excessive no? 45TB of space on the NAS unit took ABOUT 5 days.

All disks being added to the pool are 6gbps capable SATA drives, and the DAS is connected to the NAS via the 10gbps USB port.

As I recall, when setting up my D4-320, the actual time was significantly less than the estimate. Even when expanding the TRAID with an additional drive it only took about a day. I was using an ext4 file system. The DAS is attached to an F2-423 running TOS6.

I wonder if using BTRFS is significantly slowing mine down maybe. 20 hours now, 7.5%. It's got a BIT faster. On target for about 11 days now. Then probably double for the error check. Still half the speed for less than half the space of the F4-425. Guess running the operation over USB is a bigger performance hit than I thought.
