Albums disappeared after rebuilding index

I rebuilt the index of a shared folder on the nas (6TB, with around 500'000 items) to regenerate the thumbnails too.
The indexing completed successfully, however in the Photos application I no longer see the two albums I created, one of them had around 250 Photos. Now my album page is empty.
Will it reappear or have I completely lost the albums?
If this is an issue, others and I would greatly appreciate a fix.
