[Help] D8 hybrid corrupting files
Posted: 28 May 2025, 03:45
Bought D8hybrid and two iron wolf pro 16tb drives a week ago, few days back it arrived, so after setting it up as hdd enclosure (single, default mode) i started copying files from pc to hdd's via Teracopy v4 software.
Almost every file ended up with checksum mismatch, data isnt corrupted to degree that its unusable, yet it is corrupted.
I spend hours trying to understand what is causing it, updating drivers, changing cables, ports, slotting hdd's in different places and so on, sweated on search engine both in forum and global web trying to find the cause
Attempted to transfer with fastcopy and robocopy, both yielded same mismatch ridden results.
Few hours ago i did my last attempt, and no surprise, i get same results while trying to transfer, once again teracopy spends 10mins transfering and verifying files just to show me that 99% of files have checksum error.
So i decided to do one of simpliest things, that i didnt do, before reflashing bios and running memtests.
I eject drives, i take the usb-c cable out of D8 and plug it into cheap HDD dock i had in drawer, i take one of hdd's and slot it in, attempt same transfer sequence as with every test, no transfer errors whatsoever, everything i copy to both drives while using few euro worth hdd dock end up perfect, its using same exact teramaster cable i didnt even unpluged it from pc side, nor i restarted or ended the windows session.
Not sure what to do here, should i just bin this thing? Or maybe im just doing something wrong?
