[Help] TOS6.0: Valid RAID1 array prevents bootup  [SOLVED]

hi
I have an F4-423 that I've recently upgraded to TOS6.0.650-00165. Populated with a single 500GB drive that I use for scripts and odds'n'ends, and a pair of 4TB drives configured as RAID1 for all my backup storage. Has been working well until the upgrade. Now it won't boot. However...
* if I boot up with the two 4TB drives removed, TOS6 comes up correctly;
* I can then hot-insert the two drives, open an ssh session and use mdadm/vgchange/mount to bring them back to life
* all the files are then present in /Volume2;
* BUT TOS doesn't see the new volume.
So I looked around in this forum and tried ControlPanel/SharedFolder/AdvancedSettings/Restore. The volume and folders appear as expected in file browser, and through an SSH console session. In TOS control panel the RAID1 storage pool is visible, but Volume2 does NOT appear in "Volumes". However, it DOES appear correctly in SharedFolder and the file manager.

BUT.... if I then try to reboot, I'm back where I started: the system won't boot with the RAID disks inserted. So I can still use the NAS, but only by going through this ridiculous song-and-dance on every boot-up.

Any ideas? Where can I find a log file that might help?

thanks in advance
Jonathan

SOLVED:
Hooked up a monitor and found that boot was failing because of missing grub files. Solution as suggested in this forum post by tommi2day is to change the BIOS boot order so that the internal USB storage is first.

Everything now back to life, although for some unaccountable reason the NAS has now decided to rebuild the RAID (which was not in any way degraded). Ah well, it will only take 11 hours...
