Hello TerraMaster forum members,

After a period of using TerraMaster F4-423 NAS to run Plex Media Server at home, I would like to share some small experiences to help optimize performance when streaming high-quality content (1080p - 4K).
  • Upgrade RAM: The default NAS may lack RAM if using Plex transcode regularly. I upgraded to 16GB and saw a significant improvement in performance.
  • SSD Cache: If possible, you should install an additional SSD to cache - especially useful when accessing media with many people at the same time.
  • Install Plex via Docker: Compared to the direct installation from App Center, the Docker version operates more stably and updates faster.
  • Optimize media library: Naming files according to Plex standards helps the NAS scan and recognize content much faster.
Hope this little sharing will be useful for those who are using TerraMaster NAS as a media center at home. If you have any good tips, please discuss!
