[Help] TerraSync deletes files on source drive even after removing the sync task.

For testing purposes I synced a folder on my PC using the TNAS-PC software to my new F4-424 Pro.
  • I created a two-directional sync task and it worked as expected.
  • I removed the sync task with the TNAS PC app and removed some files from the NAS in the synced folder (NAS folder is mounted as network folder in Windows 11).
  • Shortly after, the corresponding files on the local source folder disappeared, too, even though the sync-task was removed.
  • I tried again removing files directly using the TerrySync browser app, and the local files disappeard along them.
  • I closed the TNAS PC software and it still deleted local files.
  • I closed the app in the mini-tray, which apparently also stopped the background service and the files stopped getting deleted. Restarting TNAS PC also didn't revive the task from the dead.
It looks like removing a sync task doesn't actually stop the synchronization of drives. The task stays alive in the background until you close the background service.
I consider this a dangerous bug since this might well lead to a full wipe.

You may have noticed that some files have icons labeled “☁” and “✔”.

Please note that if you have enabled the “Sync files on demand” feature, the initial synchronization from the NAS to Windows 11 will only include the directory structure. The actual files will only be synchronized to Windows 11 when you access them or right-click and select “Always keep on this device”.

The “abnormal phenomenon” you described is likely related to this.

Regardless, i expect a task to stop when I remove it.

What is your TerraSync application version and synchronization mode? Is on-demand synchronization enabled? If it is convenient, you can record a short video and send it to the technical support email (please check my signature).
