[Help] UI not usable for a minute after deleting file/folder

Hi

I have a strange problem with my T12-500 Pro. It's brand new and I have/had the error on the latest two TOS builds. Don't know about previous version, because I never had them on my device:

The error happens after I delete a file or a folder (no difference) in the WebUi File Manager. After the successfull deletion, the UI stops responding to inputs. I can't change folders, open files or open Control Panel or other built-in apps. I can move around the File Manger window, but that's about it! Sometimes a get a pop up message, that an error happens (Operation failed). The UI stays blocked for about a minute. After that it contiunues working like it should.

Funny thing: I have plugged in both NICs, so I can connect to the NAS over two separate IP addresses. So, when the UI is blocked, I can login to the other IP and can use it without a problem. Until I delete something of course. Then this UI does also freeze. So I connect again on the primary IP address and most of the time, I can continue again because the timeout ended in the meantime.

My T12-500 Pro is on firmware 6.0.650 and I did a reboot several times. I have only stock apps, plus Docker Manager and 3 containers are running.

Does anybody else have the same problem?

Greetings,
Matthias

We have not yet seen any other similar cases of anomalies. We may need more information to speculate on the issue. Within the first minute of the anomaly occurring, does refreshing the browser page help?
If there are any error messages, please take a screenshot of them.
Additionally, you may consider collecting a system report in TOS > Technical Support > Report Issues and sending it to the technical support email for a preliminary check.

Nope, refreshing the browser page does not help! The corresponding IP is pingable, but the website does time out!

I wanted to check something this morgen from my home network. At home, I did not have the problem. Although I could only check for a short time.

Now in the office, connected with my Mac over a WireGuard VPN to my Unifi Router at home, I have the same problem again! So it looks like the problem does only exist over VPN.

I will check longer at home again this evening...

Ok did some more testing at home. Deleted a dozen of files and working in the Browser File Explorer. Worked without any issues. So the problem exist only, when I'm connected over VPN.

Any speculations yet?

Given such a complex network environment, we currently cannot offer you any effective advice. There have been cases of accessing NAS through a VPN connection before, but we've never heard of a situation like yours.

That's disappointing. A VPN to a home network isn't rocket science these days, I think.

@anybody
Some has a home setup with a VPN to their router/firewall and does not have this problem?

Not a VPN to the router but to a Docker Container within the TNAS
Using Tailscale I don't have any problems with the file manager

If the issue is indeed caused by Tailscale, you might consider using the latest version of the image in Docker or trying an alternative VPN solution.

Your misunderstood my msg
the Swiss guy with error uses =>"a WireGuard VPN to my Unifi Router at home"
I am using Tailscale without problems (but my configuration is not the same as the Swiss guy)

Sorry, Tailscale you’re using might be a better VPN solution than WireGuard.
