One of the two hard drives I have is damaged. Honestly, one drive would be enough for me, but to take advantage of the other bay, I could install an SSD. I'm unsure whether to install the OS on the SSD and use the other HDD for storage, or simply connect the SSD and set it up as a cache. What do you recommend? I won’t be using RAID 1 or anything like that. It's a F2-221.

What version of TOS are you currently using?
Regardless of the method you choose, there should be an improvement in system speed.

Regarding the first usage method you mentioned, we need to provide some important details.
Only TOS6 supports installing TOS on individual drives; previous systems automatically install TOS on each drive.
Drives with TOS installed can also use the remaining space for storage.
However, since you are using a model from the TOS4 era, backing up data and upgrading will be a cumbersome process for you.

Additionally, some very early 221 series devices may not be compatible with TOS6.
