D2-320 auto reconnect when power on?

Considering a D2-320 for use as offline backup. I want to use a smart switch to power it on, do the backup, then power it off. Question is will it auto connect when powered on or does it require pressing the power button? I've seen another post where Support says it's designed to auto connect when power is restored, but users saying it doesn't work. Has this been resolved, or is it unreliable? Thanks for any info.

The D2-320 features a power-on memory restoration function, enabling it to intelligently respond to various power outages. If the D2-320 device is normally shut down and then mains power is restored, the device will remain off. However, if the device shuts down due to an abnormal power outage, it will automatically start up when mains power is restored.

Please note that the D2-320 product does not support scheduled power-on and power-off functions.

Update: I ended up buying two D2-320s, have smart switches on both to turn them on and off daily for backups, and they work perfectly. No issues with them coming back online when the power is switched on. Happy user.

This was just the post I was hoping for! I was feeling deflated when I realised the device appeared to require to physically press the button. I installed smart plug and hooked it into Home Assistant to do a remote power on, a TrueNAS sync from the primary NAS, and then to shutdown daily. The D4-320 powers on from the smart plug like a champ.

In my experience, the D2-320’s auto reconnect feels inconsistent. It usually powers back on without input, but occasionally it still needs a manual button press. For an offline backup setup, that unpredictability can be annoying, so I’d be cautious about relying on it for fully automated workflows at all times.
