Plex not finding new files

Hi,
I have a problem where Plex cannot find newly added files (movies/tv shows).
Scanning the library does not help.
Plex version: 1.41.2.9200 (but I had the problem with all previous versions too).
TOS: 5.1.145-00320
The only way for Plex to recognize the new files is to set permissions in the User Group to 'Deny' and then set it back to 'Read/Write'.
Once that is done, Plex instantly finds the new files.
However, it is annoying to have to keep logging in to TOS to remove/add permissions each time a new file is added.
Can anybody please help?

Can you try to go to Shared Folder, find root folder for Movies, select option to replace permissions on child objects and grant access to Plex there.
As long as its done on root folder, it should apply to new files too

How do you add new files? Where to upload files?

The NAS drive is mapped in Windows, SABNZBD automatically rename the files and then moves them to the same directory where my other movies /tv series are.

The whole drive is shared with all permissions.
As I say, it is only new files that can not be found by Plex.
If I deny permissions and then enable permissions Plex finds all the new files.

I had the same problem but i have the solution, firts you need to open a terminal and go up one level to your media folder, then yo run "chmod -R 777 yourfolder" and refresh your library in plex.
the problem is because the plex user does not have permition in publics folder.

It is super annoying.
Unfortunately, I don't have the technical know how to create a script to automate it
I am still having to manually remove permissions and then grant them again to get access to new files.

I remote access via network drive setup from windows 11... and use a TNAS account credentials to connect. This applies the proper permission once the file is populated post transfer. Also set folder permissions on the parent folder in tnas using the admin account to allow r/w. I believe the plex program launches as a system resource and doesn't have the signed in users credentials?? So I account for this challenge in setting the permission for a parent folder via chmod as previously mentioned by others. My configuration yield zero problems and all files populate and are accessable to TOS 6 apps.

Hi, you can go to the TOS control panel-User Groups module, edit the media user group and set read/write permissions for the shared folder of which you need to scan (e.g. public).
Open the application, select the public shared folder and start scanning.
