Understanding build times when adding new HDD

I just purchases F4 212. Started with a 2TB and 4TB drive using TRAID. everything went fine. Added an 8TB drive again everything went fine. Took about 12 hrs. Copied a bunch of data over. Added a 4th drive 12TB, and it is taking over 2days and still going. I am unable to bring up the UX so I can't see what is going on. Do I just wait it out?

Are you adding hard disks to the TRAID array? You should be in the process of synchronizing the array, please wait. Can you still log in to the TOS system now? Can you search the device IP in TNAS PC? Please provide some screenshots for us to analyze.

Yes I can see that it is still on the network, and using the desktop app I can see that it is doing something with CPU at 50% and Memory at 73. I can log in with the web app, but most of the time I can't see the Storage Pool information, but when I can it says that it is configuring with a percent like 3.14 and then a few hours later Configuring %3.24. I get that I purchased a very low end solution and that the expectations are that it will take a very long time for adding/swapping drives, but at this point I can't even tell if it will finish this week or ever.

I wanted to ask, is logging into it while it is doing it's thing to check progress causing it to slow down and run even longer, am I better off just waiting until I get a notification via email that it is done?

You can try to set the array to fast synchronization in the storage pool. Array synchronization requires some system resources, so it is recommended not to perform other operations during this process. When the array is synchronized, a message notification will be received on the system desktop.

Should I do that while it is running or wait?

Going back to the original question, how long should I reasonably wait until saying that something is not right, and restart the system?

Typically if you restart, the sync will just start up again.

Please wait patiently for the synchronization to complete. The page will indicate the time required for synchronization. Do not turn off the device during the synchronization process. It will continue to synchronize after restarting. The synchronization speed is also related to the read and write performance of the hard disk itself. Perhaps I suggest you try another hard disk.

What does it mean when it changes from Synchronization to Configuring after adding a drive. the the configuration after the synch is what is taking days to complete, is this normal? Is this considered part of the Synchronization process?
