F4-424 Pro - SSD install and/or TOS 6?

Right now I have the F4-424 Pro running TOS5 with 4x4TB drives in TRAID and I just got my self a WD SN580 with intention to have it as a boot drive and have application on it.

What I managed to figure out by browsing the forum is that you can't really choose boot drive on TOS 5, but TOS 6 you can. So what shall I do?
Download page for the F4-424 Pro doesn't list TOS 6 and I've done "method b" reinstalling once before after a restart didn't go as planned... So I know that method at least going forward.

Should I factory restore, remove the HDDs and install the SSD by it self and reinsert the HDDs?
Or should I upgrade and then re-install.

I want my HDDs to be intact when it comes to TRAID and whats on them, just don't want TOS on them...

Thank you for reaching out to TerraMaster!

Firstly, please refer to this guide to upgrade to TOS6. The upgrade process will update the initialization system to one specifically designed for TOS6. After the upgrade is complete, reinstall TOS. At this point, the new initialization system exclusive to TOS6 will allow you to install the system only on a solid-state drive (SSD).

Secondly, you do not need to remove your hard drives. When installing TOS, simply select the SSD as the target drive for installing TOS.

If you go this route, would not the HDD still retain the partitioning system for TOS5 os? And, as a result would not TOS6 use one nvme and one HDD as the os mirror (if only one nvme is installed. Or has this oddity been fixed and the old TOS5 os mirrors are removed from the non-selected HDD?

{I think Tos6 should be arranged to prevent raid settings of nvme and hdd combinations.}

Good question.
Customers can avoid this problem by putting in all the disks when reinstalling TOS6.
The system will be installed on the checked disks, and the unchecked disks will be processed, so that only the data partition will be valid on the other disks.
On the other hand, if the customer installs TOS6 with only SSDs and adds HDDs before the next boot, it is still possible to boot from the old TOS on the HDDs.
